Empowering Women
"If our goal as a society is to really empower women, we have to start with women's health" - Seeing Red by Kirsten Karchmer
In a time of ever increasing talk of “women’s rights” in our society - a necessary and important topic - too often the real needs of women are overlooked. The healthcare system is slow, at best, but typically unresponsive to the struggles of countless women. We are all beautifully and uniquely created. Why then are women given impersonal and frequently unhelpful “solutions” or worse, altogether dismissed? The gold standard for women’s healthcare today—various artificial reproductive technologies—is in fact Fool’s Gold. I have witnessed countless women struggle to find the “right” birth control or struggle to conceive. These can be difficult experiences filled with painful and sometimes life threatening side effects. It pains me to see the women I love suffering and not finding the support and answers they so desperately need. One size might fit all but it truly helps no one.
My goal is to be an authentic advocate for women and their healthcare needs. I feel called to respect this opportunity to provide the knowledge of FertilityCare to others. I want to empower women to embrace their true femininity and understand their bodies and fertility at a deeper level. This knowledge encourages informed decision making and not simply nodding along with what your doctor or society tells you.
Five years ago we moved to Switzerland, a country ranked high in quality of life, but greatly lacking in regards to the rights and care of women. This is an incredibly underserved community with regards towards fertility awareness methods (or natural family planning). I can no longer sit by without offering myself to the women who are so in need of finding answers. Women and couples deserve better. I want to be a part of the solution. I want to offer real advocacy and information to women. I want to be a resource, not just an idea. Working as a Creighton Model FertilityCare System Practitioner is my path forward to provide this awareness and accessibility. My dream is to continuously expand upon this and build up a community of a wide range of professionals and resources dedicated women’s holistic health and wellbeing.
Knowledge is power.
